Brentford vs Arsenal Prediction & Match Preview

Our prediction for this Premier League match:

There will be fireworks when Brentford and Arsenal go head to head in a London derby. The Bees impressed in their last league fixture, with the team rolling over Leeds United 5-2, at home, and, no doubt, they will continue to rely on Ivan Toney, who scored a brace on Matchday 6. Defender Pinnock and midfielder Norgaard should be the only absentees in the home team.

The Gunners, on the other hand, aim to retain top position in the standings. Mikel Arteta has been doing a great job with Arsenal in the 2022/2023, and given their attacking potential, both teams to score betting option should be considered. All Partey, Nelson, and Elneny remain in the recovery room, but Smith Rowe should recover in time to take part in the local derby. In their last meeting in the national championship Arsenal defeated Brentford 2-1

Team News:

Brentford duo Christian Norgaard and Ethan Pinnock are expected to remain absent until after the international break, but Thomas Frank is hopeful that Sergi Canos will be able to feature on Sunday.

Ex-Arsenal youngster Josh Dasilva – who spent 12 years as a Gunner before leaving in 2018 – could come in for a start against his former club, although he will likely need to fend off competition from Frank Onyeka to displace Shandon Baptiste.

New boy Keane Lewis-Potter lasted just 58 minutes against Brentford, and with Wissa providing impetus off the bench as ever, the former will be fearing for his place in the first XI.

As for the injury-hit Arsenal, the Gunners have supposedly been handed a major boost with the return of Thomas Partey to training, and the Ghana international is expected to be in contention for this game. Whether Arteta risks him from the start, though, is another question entirely.

Reiss Nelson and Mohamed Elneny are definite absentees for Arsenal, who are also keeping their fingers crossed over Emile Smith Rowe (groin) and Cedric Soares (knock) after the pair missed out against Zurich.

Ben White was a surprising omission from the England squad – Arteta denied any injury problems for the 24-year-old at his pre-game press conference – but Oleksandr Zinchenko has picked up a fresh muscular problem.

The Ukrainian FA have announced that Zinchenko is set for a two-week absence, so Kieran Tierney will once again start at left-back for the Gunners.

Brentford vs Arsenal Head-to-head:

  • The two teams picked up a win at home each when they met each other in the previous term of Premier League.
  • A lot of their H2H games happened back in the 1930s and the 1940s when Brentford had previously last played in the elite class of English football.
  • Interestingly, Brentford have five wins in six home outings against Arsenal over the course of history.

Brentford vs Arsenal Prediction:

Arsenal saw their perfect start to the Premier League season come to an end against Manchester United and will need to make amends this weekend. The Gunners have grown in stature under Mikel Arteta and will need to work hard to remain at the top of the league table

With Ivan Toney in the form of his life, Brentford have excelled this season and have troubled the Gunners in the past. Arsenal are the better team on paper, however, and hold a slight upper have going into this game.
